I don’t think there was a single moment where everything shifted.
It didn’t happen all at once.
There wasn’t a clear line between who I had been… or who I was becoming.
It was slower than that.
Quieter.
Around that time, my world started to expand in ways that felt exciting.
New people.
New experiences.
A different pace of life than what I had always known.
And with that came a feeling I hadn’t felt before—
A kind of pull toward something unknown.
At the time, it didn’t feel wrong.
It felt… interesting.
Looking back now, I can see it wasn’t one big decision.
It was a series of small ones.
Spending a little more time away.
Letting certain things slide.
Telling myself, “This is normal. This is just part of growing up.”
And maybe some of it was.
But not all of it.
There were moments—small ones—that I brushed past.
Things that didn’t sit quite right.
Feelings I didn’t fully understand.
But I didn’t question them.
I told myself I was overthinking.
That I was being too sensitive.
That I just needed to relax and go with it.
I think more than anything, I wanted to belong.
To feel connected.
To feel chosen.
To feel like I was stepping into something bigger than the life I had always known.
And when you want that badly enough, you don’t always stop to ask:
Is this right for me?
If I could go back to that version of myself, I wouldn’t tell her she was wrong.
I would tell her to trust herself a little more.
To listen to the quiet voice that was trying to speak up.
The one that noticed things… even when she didn’t want to.
At the time, it didn’t feel like the start of anything significant.
Just life unfolding.
Just choices being made.
But sometimes, the beginning of everything
doesn’t feel like a beginning at all.
❤️If you’re reading this…
If you’ve ever felt unsure about something—but pushed it aside…
If you’ve ever told yourself you were overthinking, when something didn’t feel right…
You’re not alone in that.
Learning to trust yourself doesn’t always come naturally.
Sometimes, it’s something we have to find our way back to.
